Tenacity
Leave your inhibition at the door. This course throws a lot of menial little tasks at you, forcing you to keep a close eye on it. The Kind of things you are made to do are reminiscent of the contemporary classic logic puzzle "would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck?" This class clears that up quite nicely. It's a good idea to at the very least read what sort of things you ave on the agenda for the week, if you're feeling productive, knock them out then and there. Some of them take a good amount of planning and being in an environment that one may not be able to enter within a span of twenty minutes or a couple hours. So plan accordingly.
I never really think to give up. However, about 80% of the time, I try to think of a way to half ass an answer, or find an easy route around it. This has not paid off. Tenacity is an inherent trait of mine although I like to be a little less grandiose and just call it stubbornness. Interviewing people was a tough concept at first, then I just kind of swallowed my fear and walked up to strangers.
Three tips
Do the assignments early. You get a small, meaningless sense of accomplishment just like when you get some likes on an Instagram post except this time you get a grade for it which probably makes it a little bit better. This is called affirmative action and that cultivates tenacity.
Basically just remember how much you're paying for this and that should make you tenacious and show you the light.
Understand that as menial as most of this seems, it's putting you on a schedule, its making you think critically about things that maybe you wouldn't sit and think about during your day. It doesn't seem super useful at face value but you happened upon the class for a reason so you may as well put effort into it. Nothing means nothing.

Hi Brian,
ReplyDeleteI loved that you used the word tenacity. That is exactly what we need to be successful in this class. I also agree with you on the three tips you wrote. I think is important to get the most we can get for something we are paying and most importantly, something that could be helpful for our future careers. So, tenacity is the word since apparently the work here is a constant reminder with ourselves that we have made a promise to do well on this class.
Hey Brian,
ReplyDeleteI like your go get 'em approach. I think that it is really awesome that you are self motivated and seem to get ahead on all of your work. I need to start getting some of my assignments done earlier so that I don't have to cram them in last second.
